x60s SSD Help...
x60s SSD Help...
Greetings,
Looking to upgrade my x60s with an SSD. The last post on this subject here is more than 5 years old. SSD has come a long way since then. Are there any 128MG SSD's compatible with my x60s? Running XP. Thanks in advance.

Re: x60s SSD Help...
I'm running a 32GB Patriot SSD with W7-Pro on my X60s, don't see why there should be any problems with larger sizes.
XP is not recommended, lacking TRIM.

X60, X60s and X60T all have the same chipset (=same laptop, only difference is LV vs standard CPU) so broaden your search.

Re: x60s SSD Help...
In my experience XP and Linux run faster on SSDs due to the lower overhead. Some SSDs allow for trim manually in XP.

Re: x60s SSD Help...
Thanks for the responses. XP trim issues? No plug and play options? I called Crucial and they stated their drives only work with SATA II and III systems. Many reliability issues with most other brands. Should I do this upgrade or save myself some BSOD misery down the road?
Re: x60s SSD Help...
I have Crucial C300 SSD in my X60 Tablet and it works flawlessly.

Re: x60s SSD Help...
Thanks for the replies. Are we all in agreement that a Crucial C300 SSD will run in an X60s and does anyone else have any success stories to share on other brands?
Re: x60s SSD Help...
I ran XP on my X200 that had an Intel G2 drive without issue. My R60e, which has a SATA I controller, runs Linux flawlessly on another Intel G2 drive. The R60e is my fastest machine for most uses, booting in about seven seconds. I can't see a reason why the Crucial would fail to run XP properly, but I never seen one. An Intel drive will get you access to their software, which can run trim manually.

Re: x60s SSD Help...
If I pick up an SSD can I back it up to a HDD and restore from an HDD if the SSD fails?
Re: x60s SSD Help...
Clone it to a 2.5 HDD and also create an emergency boot disk. If the SSD fails, you just install the HDD clone into the computer and keep going, or you can use the emergency boot disk to clone the clone to a replacement SSD. I use Acronis to create the clone and the emergency boot disk (actually, it's an emergency boot SD card).EggsBenny wrote:If I pick up an SSD can I back it up to a HDD and restore from an HDD if the SSD fails?
Re: x60s SSD Help...
I also use Acronis to clone my HDD backups to an identical drive. I've never created an emergency boot disk. My clones are flawless. Is the ERD created using Acronis? Thanks.

Yes, it is.EggsBenny wrote:I've never created an emergency boot disk. My clones are flawless. Is the ERD created using Acronis? Thanks.
