X60 - 1GB DDR2 667MHz - adding extra 1GB DDR2 533MHz??

My X60 is currently running XP and has 1GB of DDR2 PC2-5300 667 MHz RAM.
If I add an extra 1GB BUT use PC2-4200 533Mhz will this speed things up?
Will the extra 1GB of RAM (2GB in total) offset the speed reduction due to the existing PC2-5200 being forced to slow down to accomodate the new 1GB of PC2-4200?

It will use the full 2GB but at the speed of the slower RAM (PC2-4200).
Unless you do critical stuff, it's not going to slow down general/regular stuff, like browsing and Office.

Thanks.
Will the extra 1GB of PC2-4200 result is a noticeable speed increase vs just the existing 1GB of PC2-5300?
Is it actually worth adding the extra 1GB. I'm running XP.

That depends on if you're hitting swap now during normal workloads. If so, yes, it will. If not, it won't.
