X60s feedback

I have unearthed my X60s which I have not used for a while and found an old problem which stopped me using it before. When using small external speakers to hear music, videos, TV etc. better, I get an awful feedback from the speakers due to the mic on the right hand side receiving the signal fom the speakers. On looking at the workshop manual, it looks an awful job to get at the mic to physically disconnect it. Is there any way to disconnect it in the system?

Otherwise a fantastic machine!

Get to the Sounds dialog (right-click the Speaker icon in the sys tray and click Playback Devices). In the Playback tab (NOT the Recording tab), click Speakers (yes, Speakers), and then click Properties.

Click the Levels tab, and then, under Microphone, click the Mute button.

Thanks Neil,
I didn't find exactly what you suggested, but found a mic mute button which does exactly what I want! I'd spent ages searching for a mute mic button but was never able to find it.

Thanks to your help I have a usable tiny laptop to use again.

I know I have the X220, but I'm not so worried about traveling with the X60s or it being damaged or stolen somehow, and it feels more like a real ThinkPad !!!!!

Thank you very much
