Which X61s model has Ultralight & WWAN Antenna?

Dear All,

I own two X61s: 7669-45U (with extendable WWAN antenna), and a 7666-WKD (no WWAN Antenna). Both machines have (I believe) standard displays -non Ultralight's.

1. Do you know WHICH X61s models come with Ultralight display & extendable WWAN antenna? Would you be able to give me some model numbers in the form 7xxx-xxx so I know what types of X61s I should be looking for?

2. Do you know if there are any X61s models that are WWAN but don't need the extendable Antenna (did Lenovo ever developed WWAN X61s that do not need the extendable antenna attached to the top lid)? Would you know again its model 7xxx-xxx?

Many thanks,
Christos

WWAN:
7669-45U
7666-47U
7666-43U
Ultralight:
7669-7DU
7669-85U
7669-88U
7666-76U

There are no X60/X60s/X60t/X61/X61s/X61t models with both WWAN and Ultralight screen, unless perhaps as CTO.

Hi,

Where could I find such detailed model specs?

I have X61s 7666-CTO. What do I actually have? :P
Do I have WWAN antenna, SIM-slot, light screen etc...?

G

Welcome to the forum, goldencut!

Go to this page:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... ookup.page

Input your machine's model and serial numbers and you'll be able to pull out the parts list that it left the factory with.

If in doubt about a particular FRU, run it against the general parts list available here:

Hi,

Thanks for quick reply and welcome :)

I tried the link and got back "Error : Could not retrieve parts information for 7666 l3-d9547".
I tried multiple times and from multiple devices - nothing.
Weird - it seems I DON'T have a Thinkpad. Maybe it's a secret prototype? ;)

From the second link I found while looking for my model number: "Keyboard bezel with ThinkPad logo for WWAN". So it got my hopes up for a second - there is maybe a chance that this non-Thinkpad actually has a WWAN card!? But then I realised that it's probably just the bezel... :(

So I guess I'll have to start thinking about attacking my non-Thinkpad with screwdriver...:/

G

When looking up parts, submit the S/N without the dash, i.e. like l3d9547
Your 7666 is probably 7663...

Thanks, I tried it many times - no dash, all caps, all small letters. No luck on getting anything. Weird. The laptop is probably from UK, I bought it used/refurbished from a local small-time dealer.

G.

Enter it in here: http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/parts
It's indeed a UK machine.

Thanks, I took a look of what I have and it seems I have a pretty basic x61s, no wwan, no nothing. :/
If anyone has some spare time, maybe point me to a direction where I could look for SIM-slot on my X61s.
I still have a small dream of having a built-in wwan some day. I probably need a wwan-adapter, some cabling(?) and a new screen or at least an add-on antenna?

G

Here is the SIM holder:

Here is the GSM WWAN card which will work in an X61 with a standard BIOS:
eBay U.S.:

eBay Germany:

Here is the WWAN antenna which mounts on the right side of the LCD panel case:

From this service parts detail:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... D=PD003540

it appears that the "LCD module 12.1-inch XGA (TMD) 13N7092" (as opposed to the other three FRUs which aren't Toshiba M a t s u s h i t a Display displays) is present on the following models:

LCD module 12.1-inch XGA (TMD)

I'm trying to figure out why one of my 4 X60/X61/X61s models is way brighter and whiter than the other three, and this may be a way to find out. And a way to make sure I buy only these in the future, since I like the brighter/whiter screen way more than the yellowish "standard" ones.

The standard lookup site, http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product ... fault.page?# doesn't say anything about the displays, oddly.
