The RJ45 port on my X61s allows about .5 cm of travel before it requires me to push the tab down on the cable to remove it.
Is this normal? I don't remember other RJ45 ports have this much travel on the cable.
My Ultrabase X6 has a little bit of travel too, very strange.

I have several X60 systems, one X60s, one X61 but no X61s. Using the same ethernet plug and a sample size of 5 X6x systems, I inserted it into each one of the laptops and discovered that one was "loose". Looking closely at the jack, I found out why:
Both of these are X60 systems. The top one is 1707-5DU and the bottom, 1709-G3U. As you can see, the top jack has two protrusions up where the plug's locking tab would be positioned when a cable is inserted. The bottom system is missing those two pieces. When I insert the RJ45 plug into the top system, there's a definite "click" from the tab. There's no such noise when I plug into the bottom system. I don't know if this is a difference between two separate jack manufacturers (i.e., a design feature) or whether a piece broke off from the bottom system. All of the Thinkpads I own are second-hand (or more) systems.

Very strange. I'll probably just assume they're broken then.
I guess it's not a huge issue but it means my Thinkpad isn't perfect.
Oh well, just need to sort my wifi card.
