X61 Wireless card problem

Hi, I bought a "new" x61 and I have some problems with the wireless pci card. In the first PCI slot isn't even seen from the system (both linux and windows xp), I tried to change it to the second PCI slot and finally the system finds and install it but windows keep giving me "This device cannot turn on (Code 10)" and Linux "The device is hard switched off".
What i tried was:
Check if the front switch was on;
check if the wlan was enabled in BIOS;
tried using a working wireless card from another X61
tried with the last official bios 2.22;
tried with modified bios without whitelist;
check that the card is the original Intel 4965ag;
tried to switch on the wlan with Fn+F5.
Always the same result.
I'm starting to think that the problem is in the mainboard.

Welcome to the forum.
Did you correctly install the proper driver for your Windows version?
Get drivers here from Lenovo:

You know that the left slot only is suited for the wireless LAN (wifi) card?

I already got that after all the trying, the right one is for the WWAN card.

Do you have a spare wireless card that you can temporarily install into the X61s?
Also which third party BIOS did you install onto the X61s (i.e. Middleton)?

B*gger! I would say there's a good chance then that your Mini-PCIe port is faulty, especially after you've confirmed that the physical switch at the front is set to on but also the wireless card is enabled in the BIOS...last thing I can think of is popping in a different HDD and temporarily installing Windows 7 to see if it detects the wireless card, so you can rule out the previous XP & Linux OS'ses as being the issue.
EDIT: Just a quick thought...have you cleaned out the Mini-PCIe port with a can of pressured air (in the event there's any trapped dirt/dust in there) at all?
