X61, lost sound from speakers.
I recently bought a portable USB powered speaker and used it on my X61. Now i have removed it, there is no sound from my laptop.
Control panel-sound-high def audio device (x61 speakers) are listed as working and set as default...........but no sound?
Any thoughts?

Maybe a 'tired' contact in the speaker/headphone-jack that did not return to its old (contact) position.
Remove the palmrest/keyboard and see if you can bend it back.
For an idea, see this diagram. Watch the 2 and 5 in the upper part as a possible candidates.

The headphone/external speakers work (obviously
), but not the internal speaker.
That's why you need to check that inside the jack everything is OK.

The USB powered speaker (Altec Lansing) took its power and signal from the usb port. The headphone jack wasn't used. I plugged in the USB speaker and it worked fine. When i removed it, i assumed the laptop speakers would then work as normal. They dont, although i can still listen to music using earphones (through the headphone jack).
