Hello,

Is it anyone has idea from where should I get WWAN antenna to my x61s with support for LTE ? Is it possible to make it usable in x61s?

I am planning to use Gobi 2000?

Could you list any LTE compatible cards?

Sierra MC7770, MC7710, 7750...

And there are no official LTE antennas or modules for the X61, X200, X201 etc... Best you can do is flash a no-whitelist BIOS and use the 3G antennas.

Not the antennas, the LTE card needs a special BIOS to work. The normal factory BIOS will refuse all WWAN cards that are not branded and approved by Lenovo. Since LTE was almost nonexistent back in 2008 when the X61 series was new, the only "approved" modules are old and slow 3G cards without GPS.

I don't think anybody has tried adding LTE to an X61 so far. In theory it should work using Middleton BIOS but i can't guarantee it. For example the SIM card reader interface might be different. Since all approved cards for the X61 are Sierra, there's a bigger chance that the SIM card interface is going to be the same, and it's why i posted those 3 in my previous post.

I can confirm that the MC7710 is working in a X61s

I have the middleton/SXGA bios but also had to tape pin 20.

The card can run in DIP (DirectIP) or QMI mode, and there's a utility to switch them around. I changed mine to QMI, and now works natively in Windows 8.1. In Denmark I can get speeds of 60mb down/40mb up AND 15ms ping.

I havent tried the GPS thouggh
