Leaking LCD?

I've purchased an X61 Tablet (7769-A67) with an SXGA LCD. The LCD has bubbles showing along the edge nearest the hinge.

Also, the power switch on the display bezel nearest the hinge shows what appears to be sticky liquid.

Does anyone have knowledge about leaking fluid from LCDs? I haven't opened the display panel yet (it just arrived).

Thanks in advance,
Bret

It's an SXGA+ LCD, right? These SXGA+ LCDs in X61 tablets are known to be "leaky". The writing surface is glued over the LCD panel: the entire space between the writing surface and LCD panel is filled with adhesive. Over time the adhesive starts to "flow" out, leaving bubbles behind.

I have similar screen panel. It is leaky for years... Annoying. I leave it alone as it doesn't hurt too much.

Thanks for that information.

I don't suppose anyone has tried sealing the edges of the LCD to prevent the leaks?

Cheers,
Bret

If the machine is still under warranty, IBM/Lenovo will replace the LCD.
