Thanks for sharing. That eBayer seller is probably a Thinkpad rebuilt ninja himself (or her??).
It has risk of shutdown when the indicator said the CPU is 80'C or above.
It's intriguing - I also assume the fan is working when I hear the noise and obviously the cooling mechanism is not functioning so well. Or is it the case that the aging of some parts of the machine is leading to the build up of heat?
At the moment, I totally want to replace it because of the noise and heat and unreliability due to random heat-related shutdown. I am thinking about X220 Tablet, but it doesn't mean that I would be really happy - because I really want a high resolution screen with at least 1050 vertical pixels. And the keyboard is totally changed since X230 Tablet : there will never be the best of both world ever again.
If this heat and shutdown problem is fixed, I can totally stay happy with my X61T for a couple few more years - I even bought a new SSD for it.
