X60T with ridiculously yellowish tint - *PIC Warning*

Got a new X60T but the screen is awfully yellowish, as seen in the pic below in comparison to my other X60T:

Image

Both models have the HV121X03-100 panel, is there anything that can be done to fix it? Any color calibration or something? Or is it a sign of near death? In real life is even worse than in the picture.

Thanks a lot for the help!

T.

Maybe the previous owner was a smoker?

Well, I cleaned the screen (and the rest of the machine as I usually do when getting a new TP), this one doesn't smell like it was in a smoker household. I'll try to clean it again making sure to rub harder this time

Worn-out backlight and/or different color profiles?

Most likely worn polarizer.

Nothing you can do apart from swapping the panel.

its not, u can fixed it if u installed the correct graphic driver, i think its an intel driver or something in windows 7, calibrate the temperature setting, add more blues then u shld be fine...happened to me as well on X60, awefully yellow screen, i tot its the polariser yellowish or CCFL end of life, however its not, its the calibration.

I had hoped it'd be an OS issue. This X60T is lacking a storage media, so I'm running Linux Mint 13 out of an USB stick on it. I will see if I can gather some SSD or HDD, install a Windows version and try to calibrate the color.

I had the impression it get slightly less yellowish after a while of use, but it may just be my eyes getting used to the yellow tint :?

There are two ways I can think of to see if the problem is the screen or the color temperature settings:

1) Swap the screens
OR

2) Examine how the yellowish screen looks in the BIOS. If it's a driver setting, colors will be normal.

Same panels. Laptops differ slightly, CPUs are different, one has WWAN and the other doesn't, I was a little bit reluctant to swap the SSD but indeed is a good idea to play around with the color calibration.

Time for a panel swap my good man.

May as well get a SXGA+ one while you're at it...
