Bluetooth on x61 not showing in bios

You guys over here have always been very good at figuring things out. Maybe you can give me a hand with this one. I'm sort of stumped.

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Th ... d-p/943139

We both did upgrade installs of Windows 8 pro over Windows 7. Windows 8 found my bluetooth and installed it automagically.
Mine shows up in the bios under security, I/O ports as enabled. Hers doesn't. It's as if bluetooth was never there at all. It doesn't show up pressing FN+F5, just the wireless. It doesn't show up as an unknown device in device manager.

The only difference between my install and hers is that I'm using 64bit and hers is 32bit.

Am I right in assuming that it has to show up in the bios under I/O ports before anything else can happen, or does something else have to happen to get it to show up in the bios?

There's a newer bios listed for the x61, but we're both on the same bios, and mine works and hers' doesn't. I'm a little reluctant to ask her to update the bios, because I doubt if that will cure the problem.

From what I can see in the Lenovo thread, the lady's BlueTooth must have died or been removed.
If it were still there and working, it should show up in the BIOS, which it doesn't.
IMHO a clear case of a missing/dead component.

Thanks RBS, I appreciate the reply.

I thought the same, but it just seemed like too much of a coincidence that it worked before and not now. I know things like this happen sometimes.

Again, Thanks,

Dave

Edit: Well, the OP just told me he's a male and a system administrator and not to refer to him as she. OOPS.
