Hello. I have installed in my X61 Option M00201 3g modem. I am using middleton bios. Its working, all ok. I wonder it is possible to manage it by fn+f5? Like here http://www.sbbala.com/DellWWAN/LenovoConMgr.JPG

Now i see it: http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/39/wmanager.jpg

And one more question. Its need to connect AUX cable? I found in ebay what AUX cable is for GPS, my modem not support gps.
Sorry for my english.

AUX is used not only for GPS, but also to improve the quality of the connection. The feature is called Antenna Diversity. If your card does not support antenna diversity, it won't have the second connector.

You can look for a Lenovo brand X61 AUX antenna, or you can fit in one of these standard Sierra Wireless types:

On my X61s i have a Ericsson F3507g. The hardware switch is simply ignored neither does the key combination work. The only way to shut it down is to connect to the modem with Hyperterminal / minicom. The modem should be listed as a COM-PORT device and will be shut down with

AT+CFUN=0

It's a bit problematic with 3g modems in a Thinkpad X61/X61s as you've probably taped over pin 20 and hence hardware switch will be ignored.

Please note that after doing a AT+CFUN=0 you will NOT be able to control it via hyperterminal / minicom

The modem will (most likely) turn on (AT+CFUN 0 => AT+CFUN 4) after Suspend and/or Hibernation. A reboot will not initialize it again neither should a shut down do unless lost of power source.

Please consult the manual for your modem. AT+CFUN might be the wrong AT-command for your particular card.
