I have an X61 tablet.
The stylus is in good working condition, but when I slide it into the holder it simply slides in until it can't be taken back out. There is no resistance at all.
I took out the keyboard and removed the palmrest and it appears that a part is missing, but I have no idea what it is called and the HMM seems to make no mention of it. The 'pen assembly switch' is there, but there must be some kind of bracket with a spring [of some sort] that is missing.
Does anyone know what this part is called and where I can get one?
Thanks,
Chris
X61 Stylus Question:
Re: X61 Stylus Question:
I suspect the part you are looking for is considered part of the base assembly.
Here's a link to a photo of the part that retains the pen from an x60:

It actually grabs onto the clip; you can see the pen switch assembly in the photo too).
Misc. useless fact:
A good one gives several clicks before the pen locks in (like a ratchet). Mine just clicks once when the pen locks in.

Re: X61 Stylus Question:
Don't know the name, would guess something like "pen retention clip". Been looking for one, but have never seen one standalone though I'm sure they pop up from time to time.
As I said before, suspect it is normally part of the base assembly FRU; don't know if it's available standalone.
This is reason I suspect is part of the base assembly: Check out this auction for a new base for an x60 bottom (cheapest I could find): http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-IBM-42W2550 ... 5aee5780bc From what I can see, it looks like it is there.
If you find a source of these post back, I would like to get a new one (though I'm not sure I'm willing to pay $20 for one).
