I recently bought a used X60 and it was a real puzzle figuring out the touch interface. I had to do a clean install of Xp but I didn't have a TOUCHPAD / DIGITIZER version. I found a SDK 1.7 package for XP touch screens and all seems well now.

Congrats. I'm a new convert to the X60t and X61t myself. Just love these, especially if you got a X60t with the sxga+ screen. It worth taking a few hours, download the maintenance manual, take everything apart, clean everything, reseat and apply new thermal paste to the chipset and CPU. When I did this my overal temp decreased by about 10-15 deg C. Add a SSD and max out the RAM and you humming. These machines run beautifully on Win 7. Win 8 was a bit problematic with drivers so I switched back to Win 7. Finally for a really really nice setup pick up a X61t body and attach the X60t screen assembly to it. I did this when I took everything apart to clean and reseat everything.

:D Wow you sound like a hardware legend. I reduced the temperature issue by

*closing any browser tabs running flash.
* Turning off the WiFi radio whenever I wasn't using it

The fan used to run all the time. Instilling the ThinkPad Fan Control utility put a stop to that.

HTH with the heat problem.
