[SOLVED]: Replace digitiser/LCD in X61T?

I have a 7769-A67 with an SU5E-12S05AS-02X digitiser & HVP121P01-101LCD. It has leaked nasty goo all over the controls at the bottom of the display panel and there are bubbles in the screen.

Can I replace this with a (new) SU-040-X04 digitiser & HV121P01-100 LCD assembly?

I'm not sure about how to find an answer to this question...

Thanks for any help,
Bret

The LCD panels themselves excluding digitizer are fully compatible. There are two generations of digitizers: the older one (G1) colored brown/maroon, and the newer one (G2) colored silver. Their connectors are in different positions, and thus require different LCD cables. I don't know which part number corresponds to which. However, it's very easy to separate the LCD panel from the digitizer, which is screwed & taped to the back of the panel. Therefore you could swap the panel and keep the digitizer if you wish.

In fact, the replacement has the maroon digitiser, and the original the silver. However, I find the connectors are matching up perfectly - but I haven't assembled the rest to try it under power yet.

Do you mean the connectors are in different places, or the pins within the connectors are arranged differently?

I wouldn't say this. The sllver digitiser is on a flexible plastic backing and peeling the digitiser off runs a real risk of crimping it. I haven't attempted to remove the maroon digitiser as I'm trying the whole panel first (see above), but it appears to be on an actual semi-ridgid board as opposed to a flexible plastic backing.

If the maroon assembly doesn't work as provided, I may try this. But I don't like what it took to remove the silver digitiser... Oh, well.

The -100 panel is the "older" one that was used in X60t machines while the -101 panels are used in X61t, so it makes sense that your replacement has the "older" digitizer.

I meant that the digitizer connectors are in different places. I have no direct experience with the silver digitizer, and this information is what I gathered online.

As above I have never worked on the silver digitizer or the -101 panel, but the backing of the -100 panel is just a flexible plastic sheet (secured on all edges), and the digitizer sticks to it with double-sided tape, in addition of being screwed to the frame. As long as you're careful, you should be able to peel the digitizer off without damaging the backing.

I can confirm that with my 7769-A67 the SU-040-X04 digitiser & HV121P01-100 LCD assembly are a direct replacement for the original SU5E-12S05AS-02X digitiser & HVP121P01-101LCD.

In this case, the connectors fitted as expected, and the signals are getting through properly.

Thanks for the advice.
