Is Thinkpad x60 keyboard dead?

Accidentally spill some water on the x60 keyboard. The laptop was not effected. The keyboard was acting weird with random typing so I removed it to dry. When I plugged the keyboard back in, the laptop powered up for two seconds, beeped twice and turned off.
The only way I can turn it on is slightly press the harness to the socket and remove quickly. Hope that's not confusing. The laptop boots up fine without the keyboard.
