CCFL kicked my butt... TWICE!!

As evedent from my big second posting I am new here, and to the Lenovo ThinkPad world. I have the X61 7675-CTO series notebook that has a broken screen. Being the tinker'er I am and some what *** enclined I decided I would change out the broken LCD panel assembly.
After receiving my supposed working replacement from eBay I discovered it had a bad CCFL.... Total destruction begin....
After destroying the old one taking it apart to learn how it works, I watch a few youtube videos. Seems simple enough. I hustled down to radio shack and purchased the appropriate small screw driver set and hurried back home to start my repair.
I won't bore you with the ugly details of seemingly magnetic tape that likes to stick to everything and self ejecting screws, I basically I have 2 pieces of garbage and lot of parts... many of them broken... LOL.
Feeling totally defeated and disgusted I threw everything in a pile and called it a day. After sleeping on it, I revisited the destruction site. Since there are no worries about hurting anything as yesterdays fiasco has already seen to that, I laid everything out to examine the carnage.
I now once again feel I can accomlish the task, however, I am not going to attempt surgery on my next new panel 'assembly' with all new working components when the money Gods allow it and the War Department gives me the green light
... What I really need is grand kids to effortlessly complete this task for me but my daughter isn't having that right now.
I have chocked this experience to date up to a couple of things. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be, NEVER drink a pot of coffee
before attempting a task like this and good lighting is my friend.
Eventually, I will attempt it again when I feel comfortable I can do a IPS panel complete with LED lighting. I would like to hear from others that have taken this project to task with any tips you may have in this matter. Thank you for taking the time to read my rant.
/me climbs down off his soap box.
