MC8775 with X61 (HP hs2300)

Hi,
I managed to source one of these cheaply enough. From reading other posts on here, I've managed to install the card into my X61 (I'm on the modded Middleton BIOS anyway), installed the drivers onto Windows 7 x64, all is showing up fine. The only problem is that the WAN LED is on permanently. It didn't show up on Access Connections either (v5.93). However, I can turn off all wireless devices using the wireless hardware switch.
I've followed the mod guide to hexedit the relevant files in Access Connections. It now shows up under the Fn+F5 shortcut... but I can't control it at all, I can't make it switch on or off.
Does anyone have any ideas?
