Display problem with X61 Tablet, (1440x1050)

#1 Post by zogthegreat » Wed Jun 19, 2013 9:06 pm

Hi everyone,

I am having problems with an X61 tablet that I am rebuilding. The lcd is a 1440x1050 sxga+. For some reason it only comes up as 1024x768 both in BIOS and in the OS. I tried it on my friends X61 tablet and that tablet saw it as 1440x1050 with no problem.

I am using the Middelton BIOS although I have tried reverting back to the original Lenovo/IBM BIOS.

Any one have any thoughts as to what the problem is?

Thanks

zog

BTW, I did try my friends 1024x768 and it work with no problems. (Although I do seem to have some problems with the digitizer).

Hi ZaZ,

From what I can see, the thread that you linked is for putting a sxga+ on a X60/X61 laptop, not tablet. From what I have been reading, the tablet should switch resolutions automatically, (as demonstrated by switching the screens from on tablet to the other). My problem is that the X61 tablet that I have won't change resolutions automatically. I searched around and it seems that the screen is for the tablet and not the laptop version.

BTW, here is the FRU for the screen,

HV121P01-101 / 42T0464

I have an X61 laptop with a 1024x768. FRU# is HT121X01-101 / 42T0435. I will try this on my tablet and see if it works. If it does, I will do the mod to put the 1440x1050 on the laptop.

OK, the 1024x768 is a no-go on the tablet. I am going to try the 1440x1050 on the X61 laptop, (doing a quick BIOS change right now). Probably end up looking for a 1024x768 on Ebay.

I hope the 1440x1050 works on the laptop, I prefer the X61 laptop to the X61 tablet, (which of your children do you love more?), and really prefer the higher res screen.

It might be your LCD cable. Try connecting your entire display assembly on your friend's X61 tablet. If the cable's at fault, SXGA+ won't work on his tablet.
