Hi everyone!
I have a Thinkpad X61 laptop the I got as a refurbishing project. I was going to sell it to fund my next project, but I absolutely love thins little laptop and decided to keep it.
I have the Boehydis HT12X01-101 1024x768 LCD. Although I am "content" with the 1024x768, (it seems that upgrading to the 1440x1050 is more of a PITA then its worth), and the screen condition is "OK", (i.e. it's a 6 year old LCD), I was wondering what is considered the "best" screen for this laptop? I am looking at both clarity and colors as well as viewing angles.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
zog

I've got the same screen on both of my X61 and have learned to live with it as it's a pain to switch in a Flexview screen. A really really nice setup though is a X61 tablet with a X60 tablet Flexview screen assembly. I got a couple of these hybrids and absolutely love the Flexview screen.

Hi Cigarguy,
Thanks for the info. Would you happen to have the part numbers for the Flexview screen? And why is it such a pain to swap out? I know with the 1440x1050 you have to mod the cable.

Hi Cigarguy,
Thanks for the link, but I don't won't to upgrade to 1440x105, I want to keep the 1024x768, only replace it with a better quality screen. My question was what is the best 1024x768 LCD that I can get.
Thanks
zog

Unless you want to swap in a tablet screen (which is a royal PITA of a procedure), you've got nowhere to go since your current LCD is likely the best one available, at least IMO.

The steps and part #'s posted here should all be compatible with a X61S, correct?
I'm hoping to get SXGA+ on my X61s and am not scared of the replacement procedure.
Just wanted to make sure it's all OK before I up and order the parts.
My machine type is a 7666 34U.
TIA

Don't know man. Don't have a X61s to try it on, I do have two X61 but don't want to bother with the surgery. Not worth it as I have a couple of X60T/X61T hybrids.
Your kind of getting into uncharted, experimental, territory. Good luck.

I can't imagine the steps would be very different anyway. All I know is that the IPS screen swap can be a huge pain if the screen in my X61s is an Ultralight. I'm trying to find that out before I put the cash down on a SXGA+ IPS.
