X61 Tablet screen not working after cable change

#1 Post by ksmithma » Sat Jul 13, 2013 10:01 am

In one more burst of keeping life in my beloved X61 Tablet, I set about changing the LCD cable set, since the screen had begun showing a lot of green. A fair amount of process later, I tried it out -- now the screen shows nothing. Ouch. Plugged into an external monitor, everything works fine, but nothing on the tablet screen.

My question: how likely is it that the inverter is now fried, vs. something else? I resat the physical connections several times, put the old cable back in in case the new cable was bad -- all the same results. Everything else on the LCD display (buttons, fingerprint reader, etc.) works fine. Is there any way to test the inverter with software?

Thanks much for your great wisdom.

Kevin

hello there..!

uhmm, well, it seems to me that the inverter MIGHT be kaput IF you did something to it that might have upset it in some small way..
plugging and unplugging should not be an upsetting experience..
i guess what i would do if faced with the same issue is find a decent megnifying glass and take a CLOSE looksee at the sockets and the flex cable "plug" ends to be sure nothing is out of line, messed up, dirty, folded over, corroded or the like..

i suspect you might have missed something trivial which, it seems now, is not so trivial..

either that or the inverter did, indeed, go t-i-t-s UP or maybe something else did..

i guess the good news is you're in the right place to sort out the issue and if unable to do so at least the parts can find a good home with other thinkpad X61 tablet owners..

welcome to the forum..
