ok so my questions are -

Can Stereo mix be integrated back into vista via the registry or using an older driver or other patch?

Is it the sound card hardware that actually changed so that recording direct from the card is not an option? (my last X61 had the option in vista)

From what iv been reading by surfing the net, it seems to me that its just a software OS or driver problem that can be resolved by finding the right driver or missing files for vista or adding & changing values in the registry.

If the driver mite be the case, can anyone provide me with older drivers or a link for older drivers for X61 tablet? (2012 7ka216ww being the latest)

Im not interested in changing this post to an alternative virtual mix method or substitute. Please refrain from posting alternate methods that do not simply put stereo mix (wave out mix) back into operation otherwise its a wast of time for others searching the web for the solution.

note: this is when other hidden devices are still not available such as stereo mix when Show Disabled Devices is already selected.

thanks for any feedback

this is my first post btw

so far in Windows Vista...

(after uninstalling the current driver and rebooting)

Extract the latest SoundMax driver (by Analog Devices) with Universal Extractor

Open ADIHDAUD.INF with notepad

Change 01 to 00 in line

HKR,AD1984\\Disable, OutR, 1, 01 ;; Disable Stereo Mix Capture Node

Save then install the setup

During set up it will say that the driver is not digitally signed but install anyway

(reboot)

Then stereo mix shows as a option but when enabling it and selecting it as default device, there is no sound that is detected using it.

:(

now what?

Is the sound perhaps OFF?
Check the volume buttons on the keyboard, and check the settings in Control Panel / Sound.
