X61T Reset/ Fix: Battery has failed due to normal wear

Reset Fix bug: Battery has failed due to normal wear.

I know, I get it and most people will say its a GONER!.. Before you assume atleast please hear me out.

Why do I think this is not a GONER?

X61T was downloading a bunch of stuff while it was plugged in to Power Cable.

I was in a hurry to pack my bags and move from place I was staying to another hotel.

I am not sure if I put it in suspend or something or unplug it, but it seems to be functional so far.

My experience with batteries has been that they slowly deteriorate before they go into this space.

TV TPM 6.4 shows 97% battery remaining.

Battery Info from TPM:

Remaining Capacity: 37.10 Wh
Full Chage Capacity: 38.35 Wh
Cycle Count: 527

I can post more details from TPM if you guys feel they are relevant.

Any hacks, tricks or things I can do for the laptop/ TPM to 'reset' this STATUS and Assess the Battery FRESHLY for what seems to be fully functional.

Thoughts?

I dont intend to use this machine beyond a few more months so if I could just make this work out somehow that would be good.

Nope.

The controller chip has decided that the battery can't be charged anymore and that's the end of story, unless you're up for ripping the battery apart and re-celling it, then hacking the controller chip.

Not worth it IMO.

Lithium-Ion batteries can and do fail suddenly. Working one day and gone another. I've had laptop batteries do this to me all the time. Same with my cordless drill batteries. This is in contrast with Ni-Cad batteries that decline over time and give you at least some warning.

It's probably the controller chip inside the battery.

Positive rationale: Lithium rechargeables are little [censored], so reputable vendors rather tend to be safe (premature dead) than sorry (overheat, bloated cells, burns, explosions).

Negative rationale: Planned obsolescence, manufacturing defects.

IIRC, one can tinker with the controller chip if he/she has the tools and know-how. Whether it's worth your time is another matter though.

Thank you so much. I am going to try some of this stuff out. I do not want to FORCE the battery to come alive, but I also want to have the CHIP do a few cycles of re-assessment of the battery to be ENSURE that it's beyond USE.
