disabling second fan

Judging by its position the second fan is mainly for the sim slot. When the fan is faulty the "fan error" makes the machine unusable. This makes no sense especially when the sim card is not installed. Simply unplugging doesn't seem to help, the error is still there.
So I was wondering if someone knows a way to completely remove the fan and have the machine working?

Why unusable? Press esc. The machine will boot even without the main fan. Not recommended though.
And no, never heard of anyone managing to disable the bios check for the second fan.

I know that there is a solution that removes the fan error. Some kind of dummy cartridge is being attached, but don't know the details...

Maybe a small circuit that mimics the RPM pulse signal when voltage is applied?

I believe it is just a resistor with heat protection

As to your search for a T9300 board without the second fan - i believe they were never built.

Thanks for a hint, I just bought one today from a Japanese guy.
So t9000 with fan is welcome
BTW, for x61s (not x61) it seems that you can just connect the signal wire from the second fan to the one on the main fan. That will clean the fan error message. Unfortunately it didn't work on x61.
