So story so far
Have an X61
put windows 8.1 64bit on it
now trying to get touchscreen functioning with finger.

Is there a set solution?

so far I have updated the wacom to the latest driver

but my tablet PC settings in control panel only say "Pen Support" rather than "pen and single touch support" which I beleive they are suppose to say?

any help here please?

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

I don't have an X61t but I believe that the system was sold with two different displays: pen only and pen/touch. What is the 7-character TYPE from the bottom of the system or the BIOS main screen? It should be something like 776x-xxx.

edit: Looking at the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the X6x Tablet models, it appears that the touch screen was only available in the XGA (1024x768) resolution. If yours is the SXGA+ 1400x1050 panel then you may be out of luck. The HMM is here:

I just checked my copy of the HMM and 7767-73M does not appear to be listed. The HMM generally has the information but some models may be missing. Here's what you would normally do: Look at the section named LCD FRUs, you will see three screen options: XGA with digitizer, SXGA+ with digitizer and XGA+ touch panel with digitizer. You then have to scan through each option's part No. 2 (the LCD panel) to find what matches 7767-73M. In your case, there's no matching entry.

Up until a few months ago you could have entered your model type into a Support web site. Now, we have to search through a huge file that basically was taken model-by-model from that site. Your model is:

ThinkPad X61 Tablet (7767-73M) L7500(1.6GHz), 1GB RAM, 100GB 7200rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel X3100, Intel 802.11agn, Vodafone WWAN, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 8c Li-Ion, WinVista Business

I've highlighted the LCD type; it's the regular pen only display. If the system had the touch screen option, then it looks something like this:

ThinkPad X61 Tablet (7762-AP1) L7500(1.6GHz), 2GB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD Touchscreen, Intel X3100, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Vodafone WWAN, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ether, Sec Chip, X6 UltraBase+CDRW/DVDRW, FPR, 8c Li-Ion, WinVista Business 32
