I currently have a T7700. Any reason to upgrade to a T9300? Doesn't seem like its worth 100MHz to me..

I went from a T7700 in my T61p to a T9500. I didn't really notice a difference in everyday tasks, however I did notice the heat output went up...

Not worth it. 100MHz hardly makes a difference.
If you want your system to feel more responsive, max out the RAM and put in an SSD.

It's not just 100MHz. We're talking about more L2 cache as well as a cooler-running CPU - presuming a *native* Penryn board - along with a few other minor points.

No argument from me on this one.
With that said, with prices of T9300 where they are today I'd upgrade the CPU anyway.

You are probably in the wrong forum.
The (X60 and) X61 machines have their CPUs soldered onto the motherboard with hundreds of tiny solderballs.
