USB keyboard on a X60s

A friend of mine is married to a Thai girl. They are now travelling in Thailand, without any laptop. This friend has mailed me asking if it is possible to attach an ordinary Thai keyboard via USB to the X60s he bought used from me last year.

I know it is possible with the special 'dual' cable that is connected to the PS/2 port. But what about just plugging the keyboard in to a USB port?

She obviously like to write in Thai characters at times when they are back in Europe.

Yes, it will work fine.

I have an X201 with Thai character stickers on the keyboard. I am fairly fussy with the aesthetics of my Thinkpads and the stickers look fine. I think they were about $1 AUD. I tend to forget they are there most of the time. Actually I will get another set installed on my X301.

Don't forget to set up the proper language (fonts and keyboard input) support in the operating system as well.
