reattaching hall effect sensor

#1 Post by brucehe » Fri Jun 12, 2015 1:18 am

During an X61 fan replacement project, the small ribbon cable with the lid hall effect sensor tore off of the main LCD cable. I was wondering if it is possible to reattach? The two pieces go together well and even stick together. Anyone every try to reattach flex cable wires?

I am not too excited about opening the cover to replace the cable.

Thanks for any ideas.

Bruce

I tried taping it together and none of the panel lights work except the bluetooth and wireless lights. The machine does not go off on lid close either.

I guess I will order a cable.

I then started to take apart the lid and of course I have one stuck screw on the edge of the panel. Probably need to grind the head off. Just had a bad feeling about this..

The forum is great, I found a trick to get the screw out. Tap with hammer while tightening. Worked great!
