Hey hey! I bought a Thinkpad X61 tablet recently, with a dead battery, and I was wondering if anyone here could tell me where I could find a good replacement battery? The one I bought lasts a reported four hours (Feels like less than that but I haven't really proven/disproven that) and is too long to fit in the leather case I bought for it off eBay. (Designed for an X60 tablet, but IIRC the chassis of these two computers are identical, right?)
Don't really have any specifications I'm looking for, just something that's roughly the same size/shape as what came with the original, keep the laptop on for a decent amount of time and fit in the case I bought. Thanks in advance!
Best replacement battery for X61 tablet?
Re: Best replacement battery for X61 tablet?
I also need one. Mine came without a battery.
I'm leaning toward a used original battery and will try to redo the cells if
it has poor life.

Re: Best replacement battery for X61 tablet?
Yes, the X60t and X61t chasis are the same size. I have a number of both for some reason..
I had a similar issue with 3rd party 8-cell batteries - they stuck out an additional 1 inch vs OEM's and in my case, had poor battery life. I had a hard time getting my machine in a case that fit a T-series just fine..
I tried a used OEM 4-cell, in a way overcompensating for the bulky aftermarket 8-cells, but found the 4-cell life to be impractical (~1 - 1.5 hrs).
Eventually bit the bullet and bought a brand new OEM 8-cell from IBM last year.
It came at a bit of a premium :/ but I'm satisfied with ~ 4-4.5 hours
IBM has a retail parts shop for ThinkPad branded products buried in its site.
I'm having a hard time finding the URL for you. Let me know if you are interested.
Last I checked Lenovo stopped selling the X60t/X61t batteries.
@Pete B Let me know if you are successful replacing the cells - I've heard it's quite dangerous

Re: Best replacement battery for X61 tablet?
I decided to just buy a used oem battery on ebay for $25 due to lack of
time for redoing the cells:
OEM Lenovo Battery FRU 93P5032 42T5209 for ThinkPad X60T X61T
They claim to test them and that they have at least 50% of life left,
have not had a chance to fully charge it and run it down but it seems
to be in very good shape with more than 75% life left. Looked at the
battery stats in Power Manager, life is far better than 75% - design spec
is 66.24 Wh and full charge capacity is 61.37 Wh.
It has Sanyo cells and 105 cycles.
Bought mine from Dyminsales on ebay, and I think it was a very fair deal.
