Hello

I have 2 x60s and I have this annoying problem:

mostly when on DC power supply, suddenly the monitor goes dark, computer still running normal

I press fn-f4 to put it to sleep, then wake it up and it the monitor is on again.

then again after some time and i have to do it again

any ideas what is causing this behavior?

thanks!

Check PowerManager Settings.
You can tell there to switch off the display (or HD) after 10/20/30/etc. minutes of non-use to save power.
Usually just moving the trackpoint or an up/down/left/right/enter key will turn the LCD back on.

hello.

it is not the same as the power management shut off. the screen is still a bit lit. and moving anything won't restore it to normal.

The next time this happens, try using the Fn+F7 key combination a couple of times, waiting a couple of seconds between each to see if that will restore the display. That cycles the active display between the external VGA port and the LCD. From the sound of it it might be temperature related. If you share the AC adapter between the two systems, I would also double-check the adapter and see if it is outputting the correct voltage (20VDC); you'll need a voltmeter to do that.
