Lenovo's MC8355 (Gobi 3000) Verizon locked?
Lenovo's MC8355 (Gobi 3000) Verizon locked?
I threw in a lenovo branded Gobi 3000 card into my x61s. Everything seems to work fine up until the point i try to connect to my 3 network. APN and settings are fine. No issue there. It finds a roaming Verizon net, but not my 3 network. Frankly I didnt even know Verizon worked in europe since we shut down our CDMA net 20 years ago.
The card i bought was supposed to be unlocked, and according to lenovo the MC8355 wasn't normally sim locked. Sim card seems top work fine in my usb modem though.
Frankly I'm stumped. Drivers have been tested and reinstalled to ad nauseum.

You will need to insulate PIN 20.
Otherwise GOBI1000, GOBI2000 and GOBI3000 will be in the EVDO mode.
I remember some one explained to me that X61's pin 20 lacks the support for some particular power level that is required for it to enter the WCDMA/HSDPA mode
I've ordered a MC7700 (GOBI 4000), according to specifications it does not have CDMA 1x/ EVDO support. Hopefully it will work just as MC8775.
Otherwise GOBI1000, GOBI2000 and GOBI3000 will be in the EVDO mode.

I was under the impression only non-lenovo cards had to be pin20 modified. It even installed and seemed to work fine. Oh well, thsnks, mate. I'll get on that when my new wifi card gets here.RMSMajestic wrote:You will need to insulate PIN 20.

Even the lenovo version of F3507g, F3607gw F5521gw and H5321g need insulation, and the really surstrating thing is that hotkey doesn't work under win7 64bit

Taped it up, admittedly a few times, but now it works. Seems to work fine on wwan with dv4mf2 control panel too. *happy dance*
