Memory test

#1 Post by herve.lambert » Sun Mar 06, 2016 1:39 pm

Hello, i'm french and i buy and old X61T 6 month ago. I refresh him with an SSD, and 3go.

So i patch the bios with midleton to gain the sata 2 capability. I'm enjoy.

But 1 time on 2, the mmemory test was the longest.... So i lost lot of time at startup., but i after many test i have success. At this time i'm under windows 7.

Since i'm under windows 10, the longest memory test, all the time....

Do you have a way to modify this ?

Sorry for my poor english, i'm french. And you don't hear my accent !!

There is an option in BIOS that enables a longer memory test. You will find it at Config/Memory. It is named Extended Memory Test. I would also recommend that you reset the BIOS to the defaults. You can do this at Restart/Load Setup Defaults.

I try this morning, but not functionnal. Despite of the label which indicate that the test is quick, but the test was very long. So i think the bios don't do the right thing. If I flash the bios one's more, do you think it's a good way ?

If the Quick memory test did not change the amount of time the laptop waits before booting the operating system, then there is something else going on. At this point I would not recommend re-flashing the BIOS yet. How much time are we talking about?

the Thinkpad logo stay about 20-25 sec.... when on Windows 7 it's about 4-5s max.

Sounds to me like you have a Windows 10 problem.
