Four keys suddenly stopped working.

#1 Post by radiator » Sun Mar 20, 2016 10:30 am

A few days ago four (1,2,3,4) button keys stopped working. Tried to reconect and clean the ribbon under keyboard and the key socket and MB still nothing. What else can I do to be sure tha my keyboard needs to be replaced?

The only definite way I know would be to borrow another X6 keyboard and see if the problem still exists. Then you would know if the keyboard or the motherboard is defective. Using another operating system or even running the PC Doctor keyboard diagnostic would only confirm that the problem is in the hardware; you still couldn't tell which piece it is.

All that said, seeing how four keys right next to each other are not working, I would also see if the shifted functions (!,@,#,$ on US keyboard) are also affected. You could also try using the NUM LOCK option to see if using the J,K,L,U keys could send the proper signals. If they do, then I'd say the problem is the keyboard. This is based on the assumption that the keyboard decoder on the motherboard is interpreting the key presses correctly.
