Hi everyone,

I'm trying to use thinkfan on my X61s but could not find a reliable source for good values in /etc/thinkfan.conf
After reading a few forums for an hour or so, I've found that I needed these lines on /etc/thinkfan.conf :

The one thing that is worrying me is that I have a brand new SSD, and it seems I need to add a correction value for my hard drive temperature sensor... which seems to be sensor number 5. How would I do that and what is a nice correction value ? I've found this should work but anyone could confirm ?

sensor /proc/acpi/ibm/thermal (0, 0, 0, 0, 15, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0)

Don't know if it makes any difference but I have a Samsung EVO 850 Drive (258 GB).

Thanks for your reply! So you don't use any correction value for your hard drive? What type of hard drive do you have?

For my X61 machines i use 2,0,0,0,15,0,0,0,0,0,0, it has a ssd but i keep the 15 as it keeps the palmrest cooler while keeping the fan noise passable [for me]

bear in mind thinkfan uses the individual highest temp, it's either the CPU or GPU so personally i wouldnt lower the 5th temp too low even for a ssd given the full fat CPUs found in Thinkpads.
