X61s battery is not being charged
X61s battery is not being charged
Hello,
battery in my X61s is not charging while power supply is connected. From the OS point it looks as below:
# cat /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/uevent
POWER_SUPPLY_NAME=BAT0
POWER_SUPPLY_STATUS=Charging
POWER_SUPPLY_PRESENT=1
POWER_SUPPLY_TECHNOLOGY=Li-ion
POWER_SUPPLY_CYCLE_COUNT=0
POWER_SUPPLY_VOLTAGE_MIN_DESIGN=14400000
POWER_SUPPLY_VOLTAGE_NOW=12579000
POWER_SUPPLY_POWER_NOW=0
POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_FULL_DESIGN=63360000
POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_FULL=54840000
POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_NOW=0
POWER_SUPPLY_CAPACITY=0
POWER_SUPPLY_CAPACITY_LEVEL=Critical
POWER_SUPPLY_MODEL_NAME=92P1173
POWER_SUPPLY_MANUFACTURER=SANYO
POWER_SUPPLY_SERIAL_NUMBER= 1714
I've checked battery port with multimeter and it seems that voltage is not given to it. So looks rather like HW issue. Is it something that could be easily fixed?
Regards,
P

Re: X61s battery is not being charged
Judging by the number of values =0, I'd say your battery is utterly dead.
Try another one.

Re: X61s battery is not being charged
Hello,
thanks for your answers. Battery is dead because it's not being charged. It worked fine before. Moreover I've checked with two power supplies and the situation is the same. Works ok when power supply is connected, after disconnecting server is powered off.

Re: X61s battery is not being charged
The system needs to be tested with another *known working* battery, that's the only way to find out whether the battery is dead or the charging circuit got blown without ripping the entire system apart.
Good luck.
Good luck.
