Nope, there wasn't and isn't but I think someone was suggesting upgrading the CPU. They must think the CPU would be compatible with the motherboard.
So basically, desoldering and putting in a different CPU? Might as well go for an 5700hq.. just kidding!
Is the CPU soldered on? I really never took note when I was screwing on the fan.

Should be on all laptops these days as Intel no longer offers socketed CPUs for laptops.

Heating and wattage are concerns. There is a thread on the Chinese forum about the 5557u swap but no confirmation of someone actually reporting back on a success story with a swap.

Which screens can be used with the MB?
The original XGA screen and HV121P01(-100/-101)
So, if I have a basic x61 with a LTN121XJ-L07 screen, this motherboard is a drop in replacement??

Yes, it does work.

I think a X62 would be a really useful form factor for my own application, but I am used to using quadro dedicated graphics (FX 880M), so I'm wondering how the HD 5500 fares?
I had an Intel HD 3000 (T420s) and it wasn't quite powerful enough for my needs.
