Apt-X and BT LE/SMART support by Bluetooth v4.0 daughter cards

#1 Post by dandreye » Fri Feb 24, 2017 8:30 am

Hi All,

Does anyone know if the following BT4.0 daugher cards support (a) Apt-X and (b) Bluetooth Low Energy/SMART?
FRU 60Y3303 Foxcon, 60Y3305 Liteon

If not what's the cheapest way to add Apt-X and ideally also LE/SMART support into a X6x series laptop? USB dongles with Apt-X support seem to start at ~£18, e.g. NEXT-204BT:

Many thanks in advance!

Hi,
Did you ever figure this out?
I'm interested in getting AptX going on my x220, but don't want the clutter of another dongle.

Thanks

Hi there,

I did buy one of those 60T3033/5/7 but never got a chance to plug it into my X60s because of the lack of affordable LCD cable with BT connector. I then tried tracing BT on my Lenovo X1 Carbon 1st Gen using Wireshark and never got any BT traffic captured for some reason (its recent versions have BT tracing feature), no idea why. Since Apt-X requires Qualcomm chip I assumed there's no Apt-X support in any Lenovo laptops unless explicitly stated otherwise in the specs (we have yet to see any of those) and so ended up buying the cheapest BT USB dongle with Apt-X support that I could find on Ebay. It plays audio fairly well when paired with my Apt-X enabled Philips AEA2500 BT DAC, so I think I do have Apt-X on the link this way.

HTH...
