X60S password locked?

#1 Post by Dos3.1 » Mon Mar 13, 2017 5:39 pm

I bought an X60S tablet a while back. It worked great, until the CMOS battery died. Then, I discovered there was a boot-up (supervisor?) password on it. The seller doesn't know the password!

Now, I can't boot the machine past the start-up screen that asks for the password.

Is this the dreaded supervisor password? And is there anything I can do about it besides changing the MB?

(I've heard there are other ways, but we're not supposed to go into them on this board, and the cost is too much for this machine anyway, so I wouldn't bother.)

Thank you, RBS. It seems it's a Power-on password, then. I'll dig the machine out and see if there's anything I can do following those instructions. I'll let you know.
