Middleton BIOS on X61

#1 Post by karotlopj » Wed Nov 01, 2017 2:52 am

I'm hoping to install the Middleton BIOS on my X61 shortly and wondered if there is anything in particular that I shoustoreld do beforehand.... And can I restore the original BIOS if things don't work as planned?

I flashed my X61 with this BIOS and it worked perfectly, without doing anything special beforehand other than the usual routine for BIOS flashing, e.g. making sure the matching official Lenovo BIOS version is present first if different to the Middleton version number.
Z61p x3 (C2D T7600, 3GB, 500GB SSD, BCM70015, Advanced Dock x1, Mini Dock x2)
W520 (C2Q i7-2720QM, 8GB, 60GB SSD)
X61 (C2D T7500, 3GB, 250GB SSD, BCM70015)
X61s (2GB, 120GB SSD)
T43p (P M 760, 2GB, IBM Port Replicator II, 128GB SSD)
G41 (P4 3.46GHz, 2GB, 128GB SSD)

I've done something wrong now my system won't boot up!! :(....

Is there any way to restore my BIOS since it seems to have disappeared?

Try disconnecting the battery under the keyboard, for 3-minutes. When I messed up a libreboot flash, once, this reset the bios back to original.

I've had no success with this, so I guess the BIOS is messed up. Is there any way to install a new BIOS?
I'm assuming the BIOS exists on a dedicated chip.....
