Reserve edition teardown?

#1 Post by t140568 » Sun Dec 17, 2017 1:32 am

I'm interested in the special leather casing. I'd like to make my own for my T420 (and perhaps others), but I'd like to see how the reserve edition's case is attached. Clips, screws, glue? Does anyone own one and if so, would you be willing to share photos of how it attaches? I've been wanting to do this for years and my wife bought a 3d printer for me for Christmas, so I think I could make any necessary clips. Thanks in advance!

Ps. I posted this same question on Reddit.

Good luck w/this. It seems as if some of the assembly details might have potential for other mods on other models as well. There have been a number of threads on this forum about this model, but none with explicit tear-down details regarding the leather shell. Keep us posted w/what you find.
Here's a Youtube link hyping the Reserve Edition, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lddb9WVBmx4
Good luck.

Thanks! Someone on Reddit posted a link to the HMM for the reserve edition. Much of the information needed is in it. Obviously, I'll need to experiment a bit, but there's potential.
