Is my F3507g WWAN card dead? :(

#1 Post by N33dF0rSp33dFan » Thu Jan 11, 2018 5:48 pm

I'm having serious problems with my WWAN card, which is a Ericsson F3507 3g card. When I was at school, the card was working fine, and when I put the laptop in sleep, it did not recognize the card anymore, neither in Windows 7, 8.1 or Ubuntu. I also tried to connect it to my W500 and it the same thing happened.
I'n not sure what happened at all, since I usually put the laptop in sleep between classes and never had an issue. It cycles between connected/disconnected very fast in Windows for now.
Is is usual for a card to just die like that? Can it be brought back to life?

Yes, the card might be starting to die.

Your mobo may even be dying a slow heat death. That was the case for a crappy i3-4xxx series Dell Inspiron I had once. The 7260 Intel card in the machine just stopped working and would randomly disconnect after shorter and shorter periods of time.

But, it might just be "Power saving mode" being turned on in Device Manager. Check the options for the card in Device Manager in Windows and see if that is the case.

Problem is, you say it did it in Linux as well, so unless your Linux also forces power saving mode as a default then you could really be in trouble.

Some months later and a new F3507g, I found out that the slot is fried. Tried the card on the W500 and it worked just fine.
Bummer :(

Well that sucks. I didn't expect it to be the mobo, but every so often computers get old and die out. Mobos are just a lot of small wires after all.
