X61s motherboard in X60

Hello. I am trying to find out if a X61s motherboard will fit in a X60 chassis. Also, would a x61motherboard suit me better? How much battery life would I save by using a X61s motherboard with a L7700 over a x61 motherboard with a T8300?. I am trying to reach a balance between price, performance, and battery. I can get a L7700 x61s motherboard for $18. I will be running a lightweight linux distro. Thanks!

The X61s board will fit just fine. If it already has a heatsink, good. If not, compare the fan header on the X61s board and your X60's fan connector. IIRC the s models have a 4-pin header, but only 3 pins are actually used, so you might have to mod the fan connector.

With regards to battery runtime, I think it's around 3 hours (X61) vs 5 hours (X61s) on the 8 cell battery, with wifi on.

In case anyone was wondering, you can use a t60 fan with the t61s motherboard. I swapped the fan headers and everything seems to be working fine!
