Hi all,
I've decided to upgrade my trusty old X60s to Windows 7, and so far I'm not missing XP.
The trouble I'm having is with drivers. It's true that Windows 7 has covered just about everything, but still there are stuff that is missing. A Lenovo downloads page that I found through this forum doesn't show all hardware drivers. I tried installing Lenovo's System Update and Power Manager manually but none of them show up in the task bar. Also, the SD slot isn't seeing my Sandisk card.
I'm afraid I might bump against other things.
My questions are:
1) Are any of the original Windows XP X60s drivers and Lenovo utilities compatible with Windows 7 ? I ask because I might have those in a backup (Recovery partition is gone with the broken HD and it was XP).
2) Are any of X201s Windows 7 (x86) drivers and Lenovo utilities compatible with the X60s ?
3) Where could I find and download working drivers for this machine in Windows 7, as well for its X6 UltraBase ?
Thanks for reading this, I much apreciate any advice.
All the best.
My Thinkpad history:
In the past: T23, T42, X31.
Currently: X60s, X201s, W520

X60s DRIVERS for Windows 7 - how ?
Re: X60s DRIVERS for Windows 7 - how ?
I suggest starting at identifying the unknown devices in the Device Manager; these are the ones that need a driver.
Thinkpad 25 (20K7), T490 (20N3), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG
X61 7673-V2V, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G, X32 (IPS Screen), A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad

Thanks for helping, dr_st
Device Manager (with hidden devices expanded) does not show any yellow-marked entries. The few Lenovo software that I doanloaded manually just won't show up in the task bar neither will open from the start menu. I suspect there might be some Windows component missing, go figure.

Re: X60s DRIVERS for Windows 7 - how ?
Often it would be missing the .NET framework (can be obtained via Windows Update), or the C++ runtime redistributable (can be downloaded off Microsoft's website).
