Intel 6205 WiFi card failure?

Hi All,

Got the following problem with Intel 6205 WiFi card in an X61s (with modded BIOS - whitelist removed): the actual wireless connection stays up at 240Mbps or 270Mbps as seen by the wireless home router located in the working distance (was working fine until now), there are no signs of any issues at the laptop side - even no warning about no Internet connectivity on the wireless icon in the bottom right corner, but the ping across it fails. Rebooting the laptop and the router doesn't help. Is there anything worth trying like reinstalling the driver before declaring the card dead? It's a bit of a pain to replace it as there are some issues finding someone available locally to swap it out.

Thanks but I can't do it as I won't be able to control it remotely for that and the user is an elderly person thankfully able to navigate only in Windows...

It doesn't seem like WiFi card failure anymore: just tried connecting the laptop to the router with an RJ-45 cable and despite the wired link comes up the ping fails across it too. Never seen anything like that before.

I already inspected it as soon as another (emergency backup) laptop with TeamViewer was connected to it via WiFi and found nothing wrong there... can't imagine why it'd possibly want to block Internet access from one laptop behind itself both via Ethernet and WiFi altogether while allowing the same from the other laptop.
