Hello there, I got an X60s, but without a battery and some hardware problem: no HDD can pass a built-in BIOS HDD diagnostics program (I've tried 2 disks). When I tried to install OS, when I start a partitioning, X60s just turning off.
But. My friend has a board from X61t in working condition, except of supervisor password lock (it's easy to remove it AFAIK). Will it fit in X60s? I don't need a Tablet features, but 64-bit CPU is a great advantage IMO.

Oh, it can be done, but you won't like the result.

I've done it exactly once, a few years ago. You need to force-flash the non-Tablet X61 BIOS into the X61T. Don't ask me how-- it's been at least 5 years since then, I don't remember the exact details anymore. It may involve using an external monitor and with the LCD cable disconnected (on the motherboard side).

End result: laptop boots fine, but the Thinklight doesn't work, as well as most of the indicator LEDs under the screen.

Have you tried to diagnose/troubleshoot the issue further, other than trying to install an OS?
