Where to purchase parts for X60 X61

#1 Post by PLCforEver » Sat Aug 01, 2020 3:15 pm

Here in north america, the sales of Lenovo parts is made by encompass.

They don't know what is a X60 laptop. Don't exist for them. They ask for serial number. No real serial number on these oldies.

Where to purchase parts?

I have FRU numbers.

For the moment, I am searching for a good working battery and also cpu fan.

The last gray market battery I got was lasting good but system is powering off unexpectedly without proper shutdown.

Do you really expect to find a business that sells a variety of parts for a ten year old machine? Let alone know what it is?

Shop eBay.

What parts exactly are you looking for? Don't expect to find a decent original battery, though.

I have one or two new recelled IBM OEM batteries for the X60T/X61T, but not sure if they'll fit an X60/61.

Your best bet is to check the HMM for part numbers and see if they are compatible.

Regards.

Thanks for the clarification Boss!

Was pretty sure they wouldn't work but hadn't checked to verify.

Also to the O/P:

"No real serial number on these oldies."

Check your BIOS: Press and hold F1 @ startup. You'll find it on the initial BIOS screen.

Regards.

@OP:
There are 6 different FRU no. for the fan assembly listed (HMM for X60, X60s, X61, and X61s). You either get the FRU no. off your current fan and search for that number online. Or you get the model number of your Thinkpad and get the part numbers you need this way. It took me a few seconds to get legit hits for a fan.

As previously mentioned, there are quite a few sources you could try. But you have to do the legwork yourself.
notebookparts (US), laptopparts (CA) and ebay - just to name a few that come to mind.

Good luck,

I found an OEM battery on ebay for X200 for a good price, likely they exist for X60 too.
