X60s/X61s FireWire IEEE 1394 version/speed

#1 Post by dandreye » Thu Nov 05, 2020 8:50 am

Hi All,

Does anyone know which particular FireWire IEEE 1394 version is supported by X60s/X61s and what max speed over it has been observed so far?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_1394

Thanks in advance!

According to the ThinkWiki, it's IEEE 1394a-2000.

400 MBit/s or 50 MByte/s, but I'd expect some overhead to bring it down below its theoretical maximum speed.

Thank you: spot on! It doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere in the official Lenovo X60s/X61s specs somehow and I was hoping for 1394b-2002 bearing design years of those laptops in mind.

...hence closer to the USB2.0 speed, which I was hoping to exceed with it in one way or another )
