Advice on repairing a X60

I have recently ordered a X60 on ebay, and the seller said that the machine was working normally before it was shipped, so I believe the screen was damaged in shipping. The only thing i've modified is the keyboard, however the screen was the same before the keyboard replacement. I have verified that the ribbon cable is properly mounted to the motherboard, and I would like to avoid replacing the screen entirely as that is too expensive.

I have an X61s and it seems to be similar to your X60 and they seem to be built the same.

I suggest you be very careful during disassembly as there are a lot of fragile connectors.

Also what exactly is wrong with the screen? Is it smashed broken or doing funky graphical glitches, because mine has some minor graphical glitches when you move the lid.

If the problem does not interfere too much with operation then you may just have to live with it.

I believe it is not smashed broken, but the bottom third of the screen remain black no matter what. Even when booting into a operating system or on the bios screen.

Sounds like some of the internal flex cables detached from the panel itself. Temporary fixes involve applying pressure (pressing on) the panel so the edge connectors on both cable and panel make contact again.
