Did Lenovo finally get it right?

P.S. And it's interesting to point out that my X41 just went from "packing" to "shipped"

Dualcore on an X series? Odd choice. I hope it doesn't eat into the battery life.

According to this review on NotebookReview.com, it's 2.5" for both X60 and X60s. I'm just wondering how the X60s manages to be slimmer and lighter if it has the same HDD as the X60.

Yes, and why the asian market model is lighter?

Anyway... ill get an low end X60s ill think.

I don't need power, I want portability, and my X31 with a 1.4Ghz p-m is even fast enough for my needs, so why take an PT1600 cpu which is faster then an Dualcore AMD 64 3800+ ? :D

Just need to sell my X31 :P

I've been wondering the same. I guess we'll have to wait for tabook.pdf to be updated...

Same here, though heat is my main concern: the P-M of my X31 gets really hot when running at 1.4 GHz, which is why I'm running it at 600 MHz most of the time (fast enough for what I'm doing with it). I just hope the new Intels can be slowed down as easily (I'm doing it via Battery MaxiMiser).

You want SpeedSwitch XP or whatever it's called.

(Aah, I love Win2K - it lets me just use the Intel SpeedStep applet and be done with it :D)

Anyway, I suspect that the difference between the X60 and X60s is the heatsink. Smaller heatsink on the 60s, and of course, slower CPUs to not overload that heatsink.
Current: 365XD (120 MHz, 72 MiB, 6.4 GB, 4x CD-ROM, 10.4" TFT)
Past: T61p 15.0" QXGA, T60p 15.0" QXGA, X61 Tablet SXGA+, R51e 14.1" XGA, X21

Actually he also might be looking for RMClock, or NHC (Notebook Hardware Control).

No XP here (the first thing I did upon receiving my X31 was to remove XP and replace it with W2K). Battery MaxiMiser works just fine: I have created a special scheme with low CPU speed + bright LCD, and I just select the "High system performance" scheme when I need maximum speed.

It's good news the X60s is smaller/lighter than an X41, yet features a 2.5" HDD. I hope the X60s will be available with such goodies as Bluetooth and the fingerprint reader.

The reason why I was wondering was that with the X40, it appeared LV and ULV models were configured as low-end models (no goodies). The goodies came with faster CPU's. It's nice if IBM/Lenovo has realised people may want high-end models with a slower CPU (because - like me - they are more interested in lower consumption/less heat generation/longer battery life than in raw power).

I ran across the following on Lenovo's site (I highlighted the interesting part in red and blue text): New Thinking. New ThinkPad.
Lenovo wrote:Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology on select new ThinkPad T60 and X60 models can deliver a wide variety of benefits, including true parallel processing when running multi-threaded applications or multiple applications simultaneously.
The result:

* Performance boosts for better responsiveness
* Enhanced manageability and better security in today's increasingly mobile business environment
* Power-saving features that enable improvements in battery life, thus increasing mobility and productivity54
* Extended connectivity options to give employees more flexibility to collaborate with clients and colleagues55

So far, my fears appear to be founded: out of the three models that are listed in the latest tabook.pdf, guess which is the only one that has Bluetooth? Right, the "high-end" X60, with the fastest CPU (1.83GHz) and the biggest HDD (80GB). And the only X60s is the "low-end" model, with no Bluetooth, a smaller HDD (60GB) and an 8-cell battery that makes it heavier than the X60 with the 4-cell battery.
Lenovo, give me an X60s with a LV CPU, Bluetooth and a 4-cell battery!

I think more models are coming. Same happened with the X41 and X41 tablet on release.

I would be happy with added bluetooth. Other than that the current X60s fits my needs perfectly.
